Overview
What is Bar Grating?
Bar grating is a versatile industrial product consisting of parallel bearing bars spaced at regular intervals with cross bars welded or press-locked perpendicularly. This grid-like structure provides an open surface that combines high load-bearing capacity with excellent drainage, ventilation, and light transmission. Bar grating is manufactured in steel, aluminum, and stainless steel to suit different environmental and load requirements.
Available in welded, press-locked, and swage-locked constructions, bar grating can be customized with serrated surfaces for anti-slip applications. Bearing bar depths range from 1 inch to 6 inches with thicknesses of 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch for steel and 3/16 inch to 3/8 inch for aluminum. Standard panel sizes are 3 ft x 20 ft, with custom sizes available upon request.
Common applications include industrial flooring, platforms, walkways, drainage covers, trench covers, and security barriers. Bar grating meets OSHA safe-loading requirements and is available in various load classifications from light-duty pedestrian to heavy-duty vehicular traffic.

Características
Características y Ventajas
Multiple Material Options
Available in carbon steel for strength, aluminum for lightweight corrosion resistance, and stainless steel 304/316 for hygienic and highly corrosive environments. Each material can be optimized for the specific application.
Serrated Anti-Slip Surface
Serrated bearing bars provide superior slip resistance in wet, oily, or icy conditions. The serrations are rolled into the top surface of each bearing bar, creating a rough texture that exceeds OSHA and ADA slip-resistance requirements for walkways and platforms.
High Strength-to-Weight Ratio
The open grid design maximizes structural strength while minimizing weight. Bar grating supports heavy loads without the dead weight of solid flooring, reducing structural steel requirements and installation costs.
Open Area for Drainage & Ventilation
The open area (typically 40-70% depending on bar spacing) allows water, debris, and air to pass through freely. This prevents pooling, reduces wind load on elevated structures, and provides natural ventilation in platform applications.
