What Is Heavy Duty Steel Grating?
Heavy duty steel grating is an industrial-grade floor grating system designed specifically for applications requiring exceptionally high load-bearing capacity. Unlike standard steel grating, heavy duty variants feature thicker bearing bars (typically 5mm–8mm) and closer bar spacing (20mm–40mm center-to-center), enabling them to withstand extreme loads up to 1,000 psf or more.
Manufactured from high-strength carbon steel (ASTM A36 or S275JR) with hot-dip galvanized finish, heavy duty steel grating delivers superior durability in the most demanding environments. Common configurations include welded and press-locked styles, with bearing bar depths ranging from 25mm to 75mm to accommodate varying load requirements.
Typical industrial applications include truck wash bay flooring, mining platform walkways, heavy equipment mezzanines, vehicle access covers, and industrial trench covers. Each panel is custom-fabricated to exact job specifications with cutouts, banding, and plasma-cut end plates as required.
